Full Description

At Fanatics Commerce, we’re more than just a leader in licensed sports merchandise – we’re a team united by a relentless passion for our fans and a commitment to innovation. We live by our BOLD Leadership principles: We Build Championship Teams, we’re Obsessed with Fans, we embrace a Limitless Entrepreneurial Spirit, and we approach every challenge with a Determined and Relentless Mindset. If you’re ready to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced environment that thrives on collaboration and growth, we want you to be part of our team.

Role Overview

The Senior UX Researcher will lead research initiatives that shape how millions of fans discover, shop, and engage with their favorite teams and products across our digital ecosystem. This role combines deep user empathy with analytical rigor to guide experience design and product decisions across the Fanatics Commerce platform. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering to turn fan insights into meaningful product improvements that enhance conversion, loyalty, and satisfaction.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead research for a major product domain (e.g., personalization, checkout, loyalty, or subscription experiences), serving as the primary research advisor for that area.
  • Own domain-level research programs from concept through launch — including multi-phase generative and evaluative studies to explore fan motivations, shopping behaviors, and decision drivers.
  • Shape roadmap direction by uncovering actionable insights that guide prioritization, inform KPIs, and improve end-to-end fan experience.
  • Influence at the strategic level — connecting research findings to larger commerce goals such as increasing repeat purchase, reducing friction, and enhancing fan engagement across web and app experiences.
  • Design and execute mixed-method research plans using qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., interviews, usability testing, surveys, behavioral analytics).
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to translate research insights into opportunities that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Mentor other researchers and designers in applying user-centered research methods and storytelling practices that elevate team impact.

What you bring to the team:

  • 6–8+ years of UX or product research experience, ideally within eCommerce, retail, or consumer digital platforms
  • Expertise across both generative (e.g., field studies, diary studies, journey mapping) and evaluative (e.g., usability testing, prototype validation, A/B testing) research
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy and design decisions at scale
  • Experience synthesizing complex data into clear, compelling narratives that drive action among senior audiences
  • Familiarity with tools such as User Testing, Qualtrics, Optimal Workshop, Figma, Amplitude, and SQL is a plus
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field

What Success Looks Like:

  • Research insights directly inform roadmap prioritization and new feature development.
  • Fan experience metrics (e.g., satisfaction, conversion, repeat purchase) improve as a result of research-led design decisions.
  • The researcher is recognized as a strategic thought partner across Product and Design leadership.
  • Research programs provide both tactical improvements and long-term fan experience insights that shape our platform vision.

At Fanatics, we value transparency and honesty. If you don’t meet every single requirement, that’s okay – we still want to hear from you! We believe in the power of diverse experiences and talents. If you’re excited about the role and confident that you can contribute, don’t hesitate to apply. We’re genuinely interested in how your unique skills and perspective can help us build something amazing together.

The salary for this position is between $115,000 and $140,000 per year, in compliance with California's salary transparency requirements. This range reflects the expected compensation based on qualifications, experience, and location.

Where You’ll Work and What’s required:

  • Hybrid work environment with flexibility between 3 days in office and 2 days remote work.
  • Fast-paced team environment with exposure to multiple aspects of the Fanatics Commerce business.

What’s in it for you:

  • Culture: Join a team where you're surrounded by top-tier talent, driven by a shared passion to relentlessly enhance the fan experience. With a focus on collaboration, support, and continuous development, you’ll be empowered to help shape a culture that celebrates both individual and team successes.

Additionally, we offer flexible time off to help you recharge, along with a competitive 401k plan to support your financial future. At Fanatics, we’re dedicated to supporting you in all aspects of work and life.
