Senior Manager of Engineering – Front-End E-commerce Experience
Position Overview:
Fanatics is looking for a senior manager of software engineering to lead the development of front-end experiences across our storefront digital experiences, with a focus on the product description page and direct to item experiences. This role will play a key part in shaping how customers engage with products, ensuring seamless, high-performing, and personalized shopping interactions. The ideal candidate is both a strategic leader and a hands-on technical expert who thrives in fast-paced e-commerce environments. They will be responsible for defining the front-end engineering strategy, scaling best practices, and fostering a high-performing team dedicated to delivering intuitive and engaging customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the vision and execution for front-end development, ensuring scalable, high-performance solutions that enhance user engagement and conversion.
- Build and mentor a team of engineers, driving collaboration and technical excellence across a geographically distributed team.
- Partner with product and design teams to define and prioritize features that improve the customer journey and streamline the shopping experience.
- Oversee the development and optimization of storefront experiences, including personalization, AI-driven recommendations, and performance improvements.
- Ensure a customer-first approach by leveraging data, A/B testing, and user feedback to continuously refine front-end experiences.
- Drive innovation in front-end architecture, staying ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends to keep Fanatics at the forefront of digital commerce.
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of experience in front-end development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in modern front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, node.js).
- Demonstrated success in building customer-focused e-commerce solutions that drive engagement and conversion.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical and organizational challenges.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and align diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with e-commerce platforms, content management systems, and APIs.
- Proficiency in backend engineering with languages like Golang or Java, particularly in building scalable and efficient services.
- Familiarity with database management systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in-office a minimum of three days a week.
The salary for this position is between $200,000 - $250,000 per year, in compliance with California’s salary transparency requirements. This range reflects the expected compensation based on qualifications, experience, and location.
