Full Description

We are seeking a talented Sr. UX Design Director to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user experience and interface design, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring design and user research teams to create impactful and user-centric digital products. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance creativity with technical expertise to drive the overall design direction of our projects, including the implementation, rollout, and maintenance of a comprehensive design system.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the UX function for Fanatics Commerce, encompassing product design, user research, and content design, with a focus on enhancing the end-to-end fan experience.
  • Develop a comprehensive design system, including detailed guidelines and reusable components. Clearly communicate the rationale behind design decisions to relevant teams, ensuring consistency and clarity.
  • Apply strategic thinking to visualize ideas and concepts and communicate them effectively and compellingly to internal stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with product management, development, marketing, and the broader UX team, continuously raising the bar as an effective leader of positive change.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts such as workshops and design sprints to generate and evaluate creative solutions.
  • Leverage cross-functional leadership skills to help guide, improve, and implement design and feedback processes.
  • Act as a mentor for designers, helping lead critiques, design reviews, and planning sessions.
  • Mature the UX team organizationally by creating and consistently implementing stronger UX processes, and educate stakeholders on UX processes and design thinking.
  • Address and design for the user experience, including edge cases and unhappy paths.

What You Bring to the Role:

  • 10+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or in a similar role.
  • 5+ years experience managing a team of over 25 people in an agile environment, including at least two levels of direct reports.
  • Experience in developing and managing large-scale consumer-facing internet products, focusing on delivering exceptional user experiences
  • Proven experience collaborating with senior Product Management and Engineering leaders to drive strategic initiatives and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Proven ability to lead a strong user research team whose insights directly influence the design process.
  • A track record of designing high-quality digital products that deliver results, demonstrated through a portfolio or case studies.
  • Expert knowledge of the end-to-end product design process, including product strategy, identifying jobs to be done, journey mapping, information architecture, interaction design, and user interface design.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts across different audiences and levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to evaluate the customer and business impact of your design decisions within and beyond your product area.
  • Deep experience with user-centered design processes while working with cross-functional teams including development, product management, and product research.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, helping your team and stakeholders understand the "why" behind your design rationale.
  • Understanding of front-end code and the limitations of technology, with a deep appreciation for the needs of engineers.
  • Curiosity and a desire to stay updated with the latest design techniques and industry trends.
  • A knack for teaching and guiding others on best practices and the latest techniques.
  • Proactive self-starter and systems thinker, comfortable taking ambiguous situations and making them tangible through design thinking techniques.
  • Proficiency in Figma and other design and prototyping tools.

The expected salary range for this role is $252,000 - $315,000. This is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for the Fanatics Commerce annual bonus program and an equity award. This salary range is listed in USD and will be determined in part by a successful candidate's geographic location.
