Full Description

The Major League Baseball Former Player Internship program introduces former Major and Minor League players to the business of baseball as they transition out of a playing role. It provides former players with the opportunity to gain work and project management experience in a Baseball Operations role at the Office of the Commissioner in New York City.

Former players may participate in internships within one or more of the following Baseball Operations departments at the Commissioner’s Office, including but not limited to:

  • On-Field Ops
  • On-Field Strategy
  • Transactions
  • Draft/Medical/International Operations
  • Umpire Operations
  • Player Programs
  • Minor League Operations
  • Baseball Economics
  • Replay

Qualifications & Skills

  • Major and Minor League free agents or retired players who have not played affiliated baseball for two years or less
  • Bachelor’s degree or in-progress
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledgeable about current MLB events – both on and off the field Benefits

Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
