We are seeking for Senior Specialist Payroll who could proceed and manage the end-to-end payroll cycle across Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
This role will be located in Tokyo, Japan.
Your Mission

End-to-End APAC Payroll Management: Orchestrate and manage the full payroll cycle for Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, ensuring 100% accuracy and strict compliance with diverse regional labor laws and tax regulations.

Strategic Financial Reconciliation: Partner closely with Finance teams to deliver precise month-end reports, reconcile payroll accounts, and resolve discrepancies, while managing statutory documentation and enrollment for local social insurances and pension schemes.

System Optimization & SOX Compliance: Drive the integration and automation of payroll processes between internal systems (e.g., Workday) and external vendors, ensuring all operations align with internal SOX controls and global security standards.

Scalability & Market Expansion: Lead the payroll infrastructure setup for new market entries and entities, while managing complex employment cases such as cross-border movements, relocations, and equity-based (ESS) compensation reporting.

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key advisor to employees and business leaders on payroll inquiries, and collaborate with Total Rewards and HRBP teams to design and implement new regional HR initiatives.
Your story
- 4+ years work experience in payroll in Japan. Any other country is a plus
- Experience in payroll for Retail population for any of the countries of scope is a huge plus
- Excellent operational, legislative and best practice payroll knowledge in Japan and South Korea
- Excellent stakeholder management, attention to detail, used to handling confidential data, and analytical approach
- Experience working with external payroll providers
- Excellent excel skills
- Fluency in English and local language. Any other language is a plus
