Full Description

Overview

As a Senior Quality Engineering Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of Quality Engineers (QEs) and SDETs in delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable software for Fanatics Betting & Gaming. You’ll play a critical role in transforming QE from a primarily manual testing function to an automation-driven, engineering-focused discipline. This role demands a leader who can inspire technical excellence, drive process maturity, and partner cross-functionally with development, product, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of QEs and SDETs across multiple domains (e.g., sportsbook, casino, payments, retail and loyalty).
  • Define and execute a quality strategy aligned with business priorities, emphasizing automation-first testing and continuous quality.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Platform Engineering leaders to integrate quality into every stage of the SDLC.
  • Establish measurable quality goals (test coverage, automation rate, defect leakage, MTTR) and track progress.
  • Contribute to the evolution of a hybrid QE model—balancing centralized automation capabilities with embedded quality ownership.

Quality Engineering Execution

  • Oversee design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks for UI, API, and performance testing.
  • Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and quality gates.
  • Implement scalable test strategies for rapid feature delivery and production stability.
  • Ensure high-quality releases through proactive risk identification, regression coverage, and test analytics.
  • Champion data-driven quality decisions using defect trends, reliability metrics, and release readiness dashboards.

People & Process Management

  • Manage hiring, performance reviews, and professional growth for QE team members (onsite and offshore).
  • Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with offshore QE leads to optimize test coverage, velocity, and alignment with automation priorities.
  • Guide the team in transitioning from manual testing toward engineering-led validation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading large, distributed QE or automation teams in fast-paced Agile environments.
  • Strong hands-on background in test automation (e.g., Java/Python, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Postman, or REST Assured).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI).
  • Experience working with microservices architectures and API validation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in gaming, betting, or fintech domains.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP) and observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, Splunk).
  • Experience managing vendor/offshore QE teams.
  • Proven success in leading automation transformation initiatives.

Success Metrics

  • Increased automation coverage and reduced manual regression effort.
  • Improved defect detection rate pre-release and reduced production defect leakage.
  • Enhanced QE team engagement, skill maturity, and collaboration effectiveness.
  • Measurable contribution to faster, higher-quality releases across FBG product lines.
