Full Description
The primary responsibility of the Senior Manager Global Product Compliance is to ensure the business understands, secures and maintains necessary authorizations under global regulatory requirements and environmental product directives, e.g., REACH, SVHCs, RoHS, CPSC, Rapex, TSCA, CLP, FTC, FDA, Cali Prop 65, AFFIRM RSL international approvals for market access and compliance to ensure product and labeling compliance standards and requirements are identified and communicated across the organization. Works under the guidance of the PI Global Compliance Director and cross functional partners, 3rd party testing labs and vendors/retailers. Manages requests for country specific product testing and labeling delivering against global compliance, quality/performance requirements and environmental product directives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining Quality Management System.
- Identify, develop, and implement regulatory labeling compliance requirements for products.
- Benchmark product labeling compliance and regulatory programs and processes to ensure best practices are identified and leveraged appropriately across the company.
- Provide AFFIRM RSL/PFA/Declaration of Conformity expertise to drive business in the development, implementation and integration of processes, procedures, training and tools necessary to ensure ongoing product and labeling regulatory compliance and product risk management.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the business to ensure compliant supply chain, new product development, and marketing processes are adhered to for Apparel, Headwear, Bags, Accessories, Children's, Digital Product Passbooks, E-Filing, ESPR – Eco-design for Sustainable regulations, Greenwashing, and EU Certificates of Destruction.
- Monitor emerging issues (vendors/retailers) in the area of product and product labeling compliance, regulatory requirements and environmental product directives.
- Review and verify product and labeling compliance requirements are fulfilled for finished products.
- Represent PI/Quality team as it relates to product and product labeling regulatory compliance by actively participating in new product development projects.
- Propose new policies and administer existing product and product labeling compliance policies and standards.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, in the proactive identification of key regulatory compliance issues with the ability to determine actionable project proposals and drive them to successful resolution.
- Participate as SME of any recall and crisis management team documentation. Review and maintain sufficient and adequate documentation of processes, procedures and evaluations in an efficient legal manner to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Advises cross functional teams and supply chain of upcoming changes to product category and labeling requirements and provides guidance on when changes need to be implemented in the market for compliance.
- Research, understand, and communicate global product and labeling compliance requirements relating to current products, new product categories and expansion of sales to new regions globally.
- Review and approve product, product labeling, packaging artwork, and instruction books to ensure labeling compliance requirements are met.
- Manage relationships with third-party agencies, and test laboratories globally. Understand Physical, Chemical properties and requirements including Children's product.
- Monitor changes to product category regulatory and agency labeling requirements, and initiate actions to maintain compliance of products.
- Participate in industry associations and rulemaking as appropriate.
- Develop and deliver training to cross-functional teams on topics related to global product compliance including labeling.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of FTC Fair Packaging and Labeling experience with consumer products and FPLA/UPLR labeling regulations is preferred.
- Extensive Knowledge of CPSC/EU labeling requirements and regulations.
- Extensive Global regulatory and compliance labeling experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Textiles, Product Engineering or related technical/retail preferred.
- Label compliance and manufacturing expertise.
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in assuring global product labeling compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Good time management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a risk-based collative environment.
- Strong math skills to calculate lab calculations.
- Ability to comprehend and apply technical, abstract and complex information.
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
- Ability to listen and document discussions in meetings/legal discovery/legal regulations.
- Occasional travel required.
- Experience working with global labeling regulatory agency requirements.
