The Tournament
Contested every four years, the UEFA European Championship has been showcasing the continent's top talent since its inception in 1960 and is the world's third largest sporting event.
UEFA EURO 2028 is taking place across the UK & Ireland, who will jointly host Europe's top 24 national teams compete in a 31-day, 51 match tournament, attended by over 3 million spectators and with a global tv audience of upwards of 2 billion people.
As one of the world's largest and highest-profile sporting events, UEFA EURO 2028 will attract the attention of the sporting and major event communities, the media, and the public at large across the UK&I, Europe and the World. With its unique hosting model, the event promises to spread the impacts and benefits of the tournament across the nations and communities of the UK and Ireland.
The Organisation
UK & Ireland 2028 Limited has been set up as a new company to locally deliver several UEFA requirements for the tournament, working closely with UEFA, 9 Host Stadiums, 8 Host Cities and other key stakeholders.
The Role
The Senior HR Manager is responsible for setting and delivering the HR agenda across UK & Ireland 2028 Limited from it's inception in 2025 through to delivery of the EURO tournament in 2028.
Leading a world class team the HR function manages the whole employee life cycle, including Onboarding, Employee Relations, HR Business Partnering, Payroll, ED&I, Employee engagement and Reporting, right through to Off boarding once the tournament is over.
The Senior HR Manager will build and develop a safe, healthy and positive working environment for all employees of UK&I 2028, ensuring full compliance to legal and regulatory obligations and that all employees follow the organisations policies and procedures.
What will you be doing?
- Lead and deliver the core functions of HR for the organisation from the Company's inception in April 2025 through to dissolution in 2028.
- Recruit, manage and lead a professional, trusted HR team who operate with the highest levels of integrity and professionalism
- Develop strong relationships across the UK&I 2028 Leadership team and wider organisation, supporting employees at all levels, providing robust, compliant, business-aligned advice to line managers on all HR and Employee Relations issues to quickly resolve matters
- Ensure full compliance of the HR function to all legal and other regulatory obligations including eligibility to work, employment status, safeguarding and employee health and safety.
- Ensure an accurate and timely payroll is delivered each month, along with the delivery of any bonus and redundancy payments
- Responsible for the overall compensation and benefits plans for employees.
- Deliver and drive the EDI agenda across UK & Ireland 2028 Limited
- Regular reporting and monitoring of HR metrics, performance and mandatory reporting inc. gender pay gap
- Ensure all policies and procedures comply with up-to-date employment law and legislation
- Analyse and to think through complex challenges, deliver appropriate solutions. Continually look for and implement best practice/changes that add value and increase performance.
- Successfully manage and resolve conflicts, sometimes in highly emotive and sensitive situations.
- Foster a positive work environment and enhance employee engagement, implementing and managing initiatives that promote a healthy organizational culture.
- Execute additional tasks as required to meet changing priorities.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.
