Position Summary:
The NBA’s international offices work to carry out the league’s strategy of growing the game of basketball globally by hosting NBA events around the world, creating sponsorship opportunities for local businesses, developing merchandising strategies with regional licensees, selling international media packages, and overseeing international public and media relations. Based in London, this position provides support across the business's Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Controllership and Strategy functions. The role will deliver financial forecasting, analysis, business partnering, and performance management and provide ad-hoc support to strategic planning and key initiatives for the NBA’s operations in Europe and the Middle East. The candidate will also help manage the ongoing accuracy of the region’s financial reporting. The role will report to the Head of Finance & Strategy for EME and manage (as a direct report) the FP&A Analyst for EME.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process
  • Deliver operating performance management reporting and analysis
  • Business partner with functions across the business to support their budgeting and expense tracking, with extra focus/analysis on key projects
  • Review reporting and analysis to ensure the accuracy of accounting entries
  • Support Finance and Business Development teams with ad-hoc analysis
  • Review/develop financial models and provide feedback from both an analytical and commercial perspective
  • Support and evolve the EME Strategy, helping to drive key initiatives, notably in the form of financial modelling and slides/presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate and present analysis to management

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced Excel financial modelling experience
  • Advanced Powerpoint user with experience in developing strategic materials for senior management
  • Attention to detail, the ability to learn quickly, and the ability to add value by applying analytical and business fundamentals are essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Proactive willingness and strong teamwork, task prioritization and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with accounting ledger (e.g. SAP) and financial planning (e.g. Adaptive) systems welcomed
  • Prior sports, media and / or entertainment experience welcomed
  • Prior subscription-based business experience welcomed

Educational Background Required:

  • BA / BS Degree and 2-5 years relevant experience
  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CFA preferred
