The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to help implement the technical future of Topps.com. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on balancing technical expertise with business impact, quality deliverables, and architectural influence. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be a trusted partner across product, design, operations, and infrastructure teams—helping us build reliable, scalable, and innovative commerce experiences for collectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering team responsible for building and improving an e-commerce app with global traffic serving millions of customers each day.
- Design the technical architecture and roadmap that is both innovative and scalable to work with internal and external systems.
- Work closely with partner teams to provide both technical strategy and drive execution.
- Drive high standards for code quality, reliability, observability, and performance.
- Collaborate with platform and DevOps teams to shape cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices.
- Mentor and up-level engineers across multiple teams through code reviews, design sessions, and one-on-one guidance.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in technical leadership roles
- Strong background in React and NextJS technologies
- Deep knowledge of graphql and rest API’s
- Extensive experience with scalable, distributed systems and real-time technologies
- Strong foundation in cloud platforms (AWS preferred), microservices, and distributed systems.
- Proven track record of delivering high-impact projects in fast-paced environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound technical trade-offs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively leverage AI tools and techniques to enhance software development workflows—using sound judgment to apply them where they add meaningful value in productivity, quality, or efficiency.
Desired Experience
- Deep knowledge of Shopify as an eCommerce platform and integrating it as a headless platform
- Experience with product management systems such as Akeneo.
- Experience with Headless CMS such as contentstack
- Familiarity with headless commerce platforms and composable architecture approaches.
- Comfortable working in high-paced, startup-like environments.
- Deep understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), caching, and data modeling.
- Experience with Shopify functions and extensions
In Los Angeles, the salary range for this position is $144,000 - $180,000, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. In New York City, the salary range is $160,000 - $200,000. These salary ranges are specific to Los Angeles or NYC and may not be applicable to other locations. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
