WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will report into the Product Creation Team (PCC) and support your development partners in color developments. You are a critical team member of the color development community and sought out as the expert resource. You will work in partnership with Product Merchandising, Technical Development, Design, Global Apparel Materials Team, Materials Integrity, Product Integrity, and PCC members.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Color Developer to join our Global Apparel PCC team. The right candidate will use their knowledge of textiles, colorfastness testing, apparel, and industry coloration methods to approve lab dips on time for commercialization while maintaining color quality. In addition, a strong understanding of digital color measurement is important to be able to guide vendors on color achievability concerns and lead projects to innovate the digital future for color at Nike. To succeed in this role, the candidate should have a strong drive to improve systems and processes, mentor, and positively lead and influence the teams. Researching new innovations, especially in digital color, will allow you to contribute to or lead projects to establish new processes.
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience or 7 years industry experience in lieu of a degree
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel, Textiles, Chemistry, or a related field (2 additional years' experience in lieu of a degree)
- Ability to pass the Munsell Hue color test to determine visual color acuity
- Knowledge of apparel and textiles material/construction, including garment construction
- Great communication and organizational skills and able to drive solution.
- Microsoft Office applications and Product Data Management systems skills
- Experience with Smartsheet and knowledge of Natific is a plus
- 5-10% travel required
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
As a Senior Color Developer, you will lead color execution for Nike Apparel, collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include executing color palettes, ensuring on-time commercialization, developing tools and processes, tracking lab dips, and addressing challenges. You will interact with design, materials, merchandising, product creation, manufacturing, and integrity teams.
- Develop and approve color standards for apparel and textiles
- Implement digital color matching and calibration systems to optimize efficiency
- Manage lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk color execution
- Ensure color consistency across various materials and production processes
- Ability to analyze and optimize color accuracy using spectrophotometers and digital platforms
