Senior Android Engineer

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Android Developer to join our Mobile Engineering team and help us build world-class streaming experiences used by millions of sports fans worldwide.

You will work on a large-scale Android application, collaborating closely with engineers, QA, product managers, designers, and backend teams to deliver high-quality features and continuously improve app performance, reliability, and user experience.

Experience in video streaming, media playback, or connected devices is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

What you'll do

• Design and develop Android applications using modern Android technologies and best practices.
• Build scalable, maintainable, and well-tested solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver new features.
• Drive technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Review code and mentor other engineers.
• Investigate and resolve performance, stability, and reliability issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling, and development processes.

Key Responsibilities

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin.
• Experience with Coroutines and asynchronous programming.
• Strong understanding of Android architectural patterns including MVVM, MVP, and Clean Architecture.
• Experience with Jetpack libraries and modern Android development practices.
• Hands-on experience with ExoPlayer and/or Media3.
• Experience working with multi-module Android projects.
• Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger and Hilt.
• Solid understanding of mobile application design patterns and software engineering principles.
• Experience working with REST APIs.
• Knowledge of testing practices and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with code reviews and collaborative software development.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in an international environment.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Experience with video streaming technologies.
• Knowledge of DRM solutions (Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay).
• Experience with live streaming or OTT platforms.
• Experience with Chromecast / Google Cast.
• Understanding of video analytics and monitoring solutions.
• Experience with feature flag solutions (e.g. Firebase Remote Config).
• Experience working at scale with applications serving millions of users.
• Experience with RxJava.
