Full Description

Performs discrete tasks working under close to moderate supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment and the ability to overcome minor obstacles while communicating problem areas to others. Consults with senior peers with the goal of continually building knowledge/experience while minimizing any risk. This role is focused on learning to apply standards, developing an understanding of the business, and advancing personal professional growth through certifications and tailored goal setting. The position nonetheless exercises delegated authority to make and implement decisions having broad implications for the business. Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in standard costing.

Responsible for monthly cost audits, supporting standard cost roll, recording general ledger journal entries, and conducting account reconciliations.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and records general ledger journal entries.
  • Performs monthly cost audits and provides support for the annual standard cost roll.
  • Assist with monitoring and working with operations to obtain monthly metrics for inventory cycle counts.
  • Support monthly standard cost variance analysis for purchase price variances, freight, and duties.
  • Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with financial year-end audit and SOX testing for costing.
  • Support Oracle Implementation for Standard Costing.
  • Assists the cost accounting team on special projects as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of standard costing, accounting principles, financial statements, and analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills working with complex formulas.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and accounting software.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple departments and levels within the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and consistently follow up on tasks.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and be flexible with changes in job duties.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
