WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will be part of the Global Controlling organization reporting directly to the Global SG&A Accounting Director. As a Senior Accountant, on the Global SG&A Accounting team, you will work cross-functionally with various NIKE wide-teams including, Operations, Finance, Procurement and Legal to successfully execute critical monthly and quarterly close activities. You will also partner with Finance Governance & Controls to develop and implement best practices for the SG&A Accounting space.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a Senior Accountant with strong analytical, business partnership, and communication skills who will support initiatives to improve global accounting policies, processes, and controls that drive and deliver heightened shareholder value. In this role you trusted business partner, to inform business decisions and financial plans on technical accounting, financial reporting, financial risks, process, and control requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in public accounting, corporate accounting technical accounting or operational excellence, within a large, complex, multinational corporation and/or Public Accounting firm.
  • Understanding and experience with US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with SAP ERP, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint systems is a plus.
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and layers, preferably within a large complex corporation.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and managing multiple, competing priorities and requests, while maintaining high standards for quality and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate status, issues, and risks with senior leadership.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

A typical day/week will consist of regular engagement with business partners to understand SG&A initiatives so that you can apply that knowledge in preparation for period-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and analytic reviews. In addition, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results.
  • Ensure policy and process governance with controls related to SG&A spend and accrued liabilities.
  • Proactive engagement with business partners to clearly and concisely communicate the financial implications of SG&A spend, including judgmental accounting conclusions.
  • Drive continuous improvement through collaboration with our managed service provider, finance and business partners to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes and financial reporting.
