JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of our ongoing growth, we are expanding our product team and looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join our Melbourne office. We are looking for a great communicator and collaborator with experience working in Agile teams to deliver world-class digital products for our sporting clients.

You will be client facing and work as part of a cross functional team including designers, product managers, technologists and business analysts. The types of projects are varied, from websites and apps to marketing and data-focused products.

This role is ideal for a hands-on tester who has a broad functional and technical testing background. The projects and types of products we deliver for our clients is varied. We are commonly delivering websites, mobile applications and digital marketing products supported by underlying technology including CMS, CRM, Data Warehouses, CDP, Identity tools and a range of digital marketing tools.

Day-to-day, you will work with product manager and development team members to understand the product outcomes we are seeking to deliver. Then you will use your experience to design and execute test cases for the various web applications and APIs being developed. You will be testing functionality during sprints to ensure that everything is working as expected and provide valuable feedback to developers. You will test environments post-deployment to verify that the deployment has been a success.

You will be responsible for both manual and test automation activities, ensuring the quality of the software products. As a tester you will be responsible for functional, API, accessibility, multi-lingual, security, regression, performance, and system testing covering responsiveness of the application across various breakpoints.

It is becoming more and more common for our clients to aim for certain accessibility targets when building customer-facing products, so knowledge of WCAG standards and experience using accessibility testing tools (like Wave and Axe tools) is valuable.

This role requires an individual who brings energy, pragmatism and critical thinking to our clients, and you will also need to have a relentless focus on where client and customer value is. The role is hybrid remote, with two days per week in our office (located in Melbourne Central Tower) or at client offices desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute test cases for web applications and APIs. Producing test plans and reports as required.
  • Working as part of a cross functional Agile team in the delivery of digital products.
  • Attending regular agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and show cases.
  • Assisting in the planning and running of UAT sessions at key moments in project delivery.
  • Building great relationships with key client stakeholders, ensuring they are confident and consulted during projects.
  • Work in close collaboration with product and technology leads in order to best understand the product and technical details of the project.
  • Provide clear and detailed steps to reproduce bugs/issues discovered throughout the project.
  • Comfortable working with technical aspects of the project such as APIs, databases, mobile apps, to ensure high testing coverage.
  • Plan, prioritise, design, write and execute test cases.
  • Be involved in test planning, test strategy, test management and setting up QA process for desktop and web applications.
  • Ensure test coverage across functional and regression testing.
  • Manage communication, raising risks and planning mitigation.
  • Learn and stay up to date on the latest testing methodologies and tools.

Skills:

  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in a QA Engineering role, ideally with some experience working in an agency/consulting context.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and directly with clients.
  • Experience in utilising and testing core digital technologies including CMS, CRM, VMS, data warehouse & middleware systems.
  • A passion for digital products and technology, strong problem-solving skills with a flair for finding innovative solutions.
  • Competent in utilising project management and testing tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Lucid Chart, Figma and Postman
  • Strong experience in defining test scenarios from acceptance criteria.
  • Experience in integration and end-to-end testing.
  • High attention to detail and natural curiosity towards problem solving.
  • Hands on experience with one or more automation frameworks –Selenium / Cypress /Rest Assured.
  • Hand on experience on writing SQL queries.
  • Hand on experience on accessibility testing tools like Wave and Axe
  • Experience with Performance testing would be considered as beneficial (K6, JMeter or Loadrunner).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to contribute to continuous improvement process.
  • Ability to liaise with business users to understand the requirements thoroughly.
  • A keen interest in sport or the sports business and real interest in the positive effects we have on our client's businesses.
