Role Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Photo Editor to join our fast-paced editorial team. Based on any prior sport expertise, you will be assigned to specific products or licenses, collaborating closely with the editorial team to source, select, and deliver high-quality images. In this role, you will also work closely with the Digital Asset Manager to maintain and organize our growing archive of digital assets, ensuring consistency and accessibility. Additionally, you will help manage all aspects of incoming photo shoots and oversee the workflow from shoot to delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of editorial processes, production deadlines, and the ability to communicate effectively within a larger team.
In this role, you will…
- Work closely with the editorial team to source, select, and deliver images for specific products or licenses
- Collaborate with the Digital Asset Manager to maintain and organize the digital archive, troubleshooting any inconsistencies
- Oversee and manage the workflow of all incoming photo shoots, ensuring adherence to IPTC guidelines and new workflow strategies
- Ensure all images meet the editorial standards and align with the publication's visual style and guidelines
- Review and, if necessary, edit raw photo assignments to meet the needs of the editorial team
- Communicate regularly with photographers and the broader editorial team to ensure timely delivery of all assets
The ideal candidate:
- Proven experience (3-5 years) as a photo editor
- Demonstrates proficiency in photo editing software and tools (PhotoShelter, Photo Mechanic, Photoshop, FTP, etc.) and a keen eye for selecting high-quality images with significant sport expertise
- Is familiar with IPTC guidelines and best practices in handling digital assets
- Has prior experience in an editorial role, with a strong understanding of the demands of production deadlines and the need for constant communication with the team
- Possesses excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in maintaining and organizing digital archives
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Has strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and is comfortable working collaboratively within a team
