We are excited to be searching for a Medical Education Course Lead, who will be responsible for raising the standards of medical care across football with a focus on education of the game.
You will work alongside the Senior Lead - Medical Education, to ensure the effective delivery of FA Education courses, with specific responsibility for The FA Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) and The FA Emergency First Aid at Work (EMFAIF) courses.
What will you be doing?
EFAIF and EMFAIF:
- Assist the Medical delivery officer with oversight and planning of EFAIF and EMFAiF:
- Liaison with venue teams,
- Course planning,
- Liaison with the workforce on generic tutor training,
- Liaison with L&I.
- Manage the transfer of EFAIF from the workforce across to the Medical pathway.
- EFAiF/EMFAiF tutor management and deployment:
- Annual tutor contracts with HR.
- EFAIF tutor recruitment and interviews:
- Once per annum, move across to IC identification TBC.
- EFAIF/EMFAiF tutor support, development and quality assurance:
- Annual training days, invites, management, organisation and delivery,
- Day-to-day oversight of the quality assurance tutors for EFAIF in South, Midlands and North,
- Quality assurance visits where required (tutor interventions)
- EMFAiF lead tutor mentorship and development of new EMFAIF lead tutors.
- EMFAIF on course lead tutor delivery:
- 8 -12 EMFAiF per annum.
- EFAIF/EMFAIF tutor updates:
- Quarterly webinars EFAIF.
- EFAiF/EMFAIF tutor resources and course resource design and development with the Medical Education Lead.
To support the delivery of the FA Medical Pathway Courses:
- ATMMiF shortlisting.
- To tutor on courses across the medical pathway, approximately 20 days per annum (including EMFAiF)
- ITMMiF courses (approx. 2 courses/annum i.e. 4 days)
- ATMMiF/ATMMiF-R and bespoke ATMMiF-R courses (approx. 4-8 days per annum)
- To work closely with the Senior Lead - Medical Education and Medical Delivery Officer to ensure an effective delivery of the FA medical pathway.
- To provide support and mentorship to the medical course administrators.
- To attend meetings, as required, to ensure in collaboration with the Senior Lead Medical Education and medical officer oversight and continuity of the medical pathway and fulfilling the goals of the medical strategy.
- To assist the Senior Lead - Medical Education with resource development as required to courses, online content, webpages and manuals across the medical pathway.
- To assist the Senior Lead - Medical Education with the implementation of the HEI program within Universities.
- To assist the Senior Lead - Medical Education with the implementation of an International medical course platform and pathway.
- To be an active member of the Medical Working Group.
- To be an active member of the medical team and contribute to meetings, training and equipment oversight.
- To deputise for the Medical Education Lead where required.
Other:
- Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.
- As part of The FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.
Interview dates are scheduled for 10th December at St George's Park.
What are we looking for?
Essential for the role:
Knowledge:
- A postgraduate healthcare professional with the technical ability to underpin the course.
- Additional professional development in a sports and exercise medicine setting.
- In-depth understanding of sports-related injuries, rehabilitation, and emergency response in a football context.
Experience:
- Experience in delivering to adults in an education setting specifically regarding first aid and trauma awareness and management.
- Experience in managing a sports medicine team within a football environment.
- Experience working with football governing bodies.
- Current or previous experience of working in a sports setting, preferably football.
- Current or previous experience of delivering sports first aid/trauma courses at the level of ATMMiF or equivalent.
- Current or previous experience of tutor development in a related topic.
Technical Skills:
- Registration with a regulatory body.
- A full and clean driving licence with access to own transport.
- Confident and competent approach to teaching and assessment.
- Professional and supportive attitude.
- Familiarity with the use of educational technologies, including simulation-based learning, for training sports medicine professionals and volunteers.
- No conflicts of interest.
Beneficial to have:
- Experience advocating for player health and welfare at organizational or governing body levels.
- Experience working with elite/professional athletes.
- Additional certifications or qualifications in sports medicine, such as an MSc or fellowship in sports and exercise medicine.
- A Teaching qualification.
- Higher degree, i.e. master's degree in a related field.
- Evidence of continual professional development.
- Experience in delivering on the FA medical pathway to post-graduate learners.
- Experience in managing learners with learning need
