FIFA World Cup 26 Skills Framework

The Media Operations & Services Venue Management evergreen role consolidates responsibilities across both the Venue Media Manager and the Venue Media Coordinator. This combined role is essential in delivering world-class media services at all FIFA World Cup 26™ stadiums, ensuring accredited journalists, photographers, broadcasters, and non-rights holders receive seamless support and operational excellence. The main responsibilities include:

Media Area Setup & Operational Delivery

  • Scope, plan, set up, and oversee all media-dedicated areas in the competition stadium.
  • Ensure operational readiness of the press box, press conference room, mixed zone, photographer positions, photo workroom, auxiliary media tribunes, and all other media workspaces.
  • Conduct pre-match inspections to confirm readiness, cleanliness, signage accuracy, technical setup, and infrastructure availability.
  • Coordinate with Venue Management and suppliers to ensure timely installation of media infrastructure, overlay, equipment, and technology.


Matchday Media Services & Support

  • Provide on-site support and customer service to journalists, photographers, broadcasters, and visiting media.
  • Address media inquiries, concerns, and operational issues promptly.
  • Support smooth delivery of media activities during MD-1, matchday, and post-match operations.
  • Assist with media flows, queueing, space allocation, and adherence to media access regulations.
  • Collaborate with FIFA Media Officers to manage press conference operations, mixed zone activities, and pitch-side positioning.


Media Ticketing & Access Management

  • Manage and distribute media tickets through the media ticketing software.
  • Serve as the focal point for resolving media ticketing issues or special requests.
  • Implement and enforce access management rules for all media areas.
  • Ensure bibs, including photographer bibs, are distributed, tracked, and returned.


Coordination with Venue & Functional Areas

  • Work closely with Venue Management, Media Partnerships Services, Volunteer Management, Operations, IT, and other supporting departments.
  • Resolve venue-level media challenges quickly in coordination with venue teams.
  • Ensure the delivery of catering, technology, signage, and transport services for media as per venue requirements.
  • Implement signage throughout the venue to ensure easy navigation to and from all media areas.


Post-Match Media Operations

  • Organize accredited media for post-match activities, including mixed zone operations, press conferences, and flash interviews.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between media, teams, and FIFA Media Officers during post-match operations.
  • Support technical debriefs, reporting, and issue documentation for HQ follow-up.


Volunteer Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Responsible for the training, briefing, and management of media operations & services volunteers.
  • Oversee volunteer assignments across media help desks, bib distribution points, mixed zone areas, and media tribunes.
  • Ensure volunteers understand operational procedures, customer service expectations, and escalation processes.


Issue Resolution & Media Relations

  • Build strong working relationships with media representatives attending the venue.
  • Respond to incidents or emergencies involving media members or media operations.
  • Maintain awareness of media regulations and ensure compliance with FIFA policies.
  • Liaise with HQ on media-related escalations and provide real-time issue reports.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Operations, Journalism, Communications, Sports Management, Event Management, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience in media operations for large events, stadiums, or broadcast environments will be considered.


Work Experience

  • Experience supporting or managing media operations at major sporting events, live events, or in newsroom/broadcast environments.
  • Experience working with journalists, photographers, and media crews in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong background in venue operations, customer service, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience supervising volunteers or temporary event staff.


Language

  • Fluent in English (required)
  • Spanish and/or French proficiency strongly preferred


Technology

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Familiarity with media ticketing systems, accreditation systems, or media management platforms.
