Full Description
Materials Developers (Decorations/Components) plays a critical role as part of the production creation in overseeing quality standard development, development of decorations across all leagues & business channels from concept to commercialization, working closely with suppliers and PCCs, with a need to be highly organized, detailed and action oriented with the ability to be flexible and manage a large workload in a fast-paced environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Drive timely calendar adherence and deliverables that lead to successful buy ready
- Ensure the timely execution of seasonal developments with suppliers
- Provide technical expertise
- Provide target cost to nominated suppliers and negotiate cost and MOQ where necessary
- Own communication channel with decoration suppliers and garment vendors
- Ensure PLM entries are set up and maintained for all decoration development in respective category
- Receive and review submits from nominated suppliers for color and quality prior to senior developer reviewing with cross functional teams
- Work closely with color team and PCCs on all decoration color reviews
- Maintain development trackers
- Maintain relevant data for metric reporting/adoption ratio
- Work closely with PCCs to initiate development testing & oversee vendor communication until testing passes
- Work cross-functionally with PCCs on all new/dual development decoration resourcing
- Work cross-functionally with procurement/PI team on items that need to be developed and tested for domestic decorations
- Travel as necessary to get technical training and finalize the development of product
- Identify opportunities within the process to increase speed, efficiency and quality
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Product Development, Clothing Technology and/or Manufacturing or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the fashion industry with a strong knowledge of fabric and embellishment development as well as testing standards and methods.
- Strong background in decoration development process and some cost negotiation.
- Experience in knitted fabric construction, graphic art/print knowledge, raw materials, wash techniques and production would be a plus.
- Must be able to identify issues and analyze relevant data to determine the correct and appropriate course of action and generate solutions.
- Must be deadline driven and have a pro-active and creative approach to problem solving.
- Excellent organizational, communication, follow-up skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong sense of urgency and intuitive sense of priorities and accuracy.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
- Proficient in PLM, databases, Adobe Illustrator, Airtable, and MS Office applications.
