Full Description
The Manager of Sports Events is responsible for overseeing the development of national properties, large-scale events, and significant event initiatives within the region. This role focuses on creating unique opportunities and enhancing the brand image. As a project leader, you will work closely with key stakeholders to maximize the impact of major regional sports event initiatives. The responsibilities encompass all aspects of event management, including creative development, concept planning, execution, and evaluation. Additionally, you will collaborate with and provide guidance to local field teams, ensuring the effective utilization of sports properties and Red Bull partnerships in host markets. This includes supporting goal-setting, identifying key communities and relationships, and leading relevant initiatives tied to national and regional events within the region.

LEAD EXECUTION OF ALL REGIONAL SPORTS EVENTS
Lead the quality execution and production of all regional Red Bull sports events.
Be fiscally responsible for the managed budgets of assigned event projects.
Identify and propose potential sites for event properties based on local market needs and anticipated ROI.
Develop comprehensive project plans, oversee their execution, and lead the respective project teams.
Supervise all aspects of pre-planning through to event execution.
Serve as the primary liaison between Red Bull and local authorities to secure appropriate authorizations.
Ensure effective communication of project information among team members, departments, and partners.
Collaborate with the Legal department to draft contracts, issue bids, evaluate proposals, and negotiate optimal agreements with relevant partners/suppliers.
Work with Risk Management and Legal departments to facilitate necessary agreements with external parties in compliance with Red Bull standards.
Source and manage event production companies, agencies, vendors, and logistics providers.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute Above-The-Line and Below-The-Line strategies.
Collaborate with Region Leadership and Santa Monica HQ teams to align and execute the region's Sports Marketing strategy.
Identify and create new event opportunities that engage communities, sport categories, and emerging audiences in the region.
SUPPORT PRODUCT ACTIVATION
Collaborate with Brand Marketing, Field Marketing, and Sales teams to develop regional activation plans that build awareness and relevance for events.
Identify and implement cross-functional support and strategies to incorporate the product into event plans.
SHARE BEST PRACTICES
Facilitate meetings, conduct post-event after-action reviews, and deliver training sessions to gather insights, share knowledge, and align strategies effectively.
Identify and disseminate best practices across the regional Marketing team and the Sports department.
Collaborate with the regional Communications team to optimize return on investment (ROI) by creating and managing content distribution for local initiatives across appropriate channels (earned, managed, owned).
EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
that matter most for this role:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in event, project, team coordination, and budget management
- Experienced in leading teams in planning, project management, and event production.
- Skilled in developing creative and unique solutions for project execution.
- Possess extensive knowledge of various sports and their respective regional and national scenes.
- Proven ability to manage budgets exceeding $400,000.
- Proficient in contract negotiation and review, including drafting agreements with suppliers and external partners.
- Experienced in television production, video programming, and content capture.
- Demonstrated history of successful collaboration with local governments, agencies, and partners, showcasing an understanding of local approval systems and regulations.
- Adept at fostering meaningful dialogue and securing buy-in from internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience considered in place of a degree.
- Must have valid US driver's license
- Must be fluent in English, additional language skills an advantage
- Travel 10-20%
