Full Description

The Football Association has an exciting opportunity for a Learning Project and Risk Lead to join our FA Learning division, on a 9-month fixed-term contract.

The Learning Project and Risk Lead will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of learning and innovation activity by managing projects and risks. The role ensures that project objectives align with business demands while mitigating risk to deliver high-quality outcomes, allowing the Learning and Innovation team to appropriately scale production as needed.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage strategic priority projects including Digital System Transition (content and learners), and qualification design within the learning and innovation (L&I) team by monitoring risk and managing ongoing tasks and milestones.
  • Manage risk across strategic and core learning activity within the Learning and Innovation team (L&I), ensuring potential challenges are identified and mitigated proactively.
  • Work closely with the Head of and Senior Leads in L&I to deliver high-priority projects and mitigate risk, ensuring communication is clear, strategically orientated and timely.
  • Track and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle, providing solutions for risk mitigation and ensuring project success, working closely with Strategy, Data and Insights colleagues.
  • Assess and evaluate project and resource requirements for the L&I team to align with business demands and objectives.
  • Monitor and report risk trends to the Strategy, Data and Insights team, utilising data to enhance efficiency and improve future project outcomes.
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group's changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and well-being can be maintained.
  • As part of The FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

What are we looking for?

Essential for the role:

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and how they apply to learning and innovation projects and core activity.
  • An understanding of learning and development trends, methodologies, and tools.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting within a project context.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in risk management, including identifying risks, creating mitigation strategies, and tracking risk trends.
  • Experience negotiating and managing project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.

Skills:

  • Analytical skills to track, report, and mitigate risks while improving efficiency.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple activity areas simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana).

Beneficial to have:

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile).

Experience:

  • Previous experience working within a Learning and Development function, particularly within a large, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in managing projects with cross-divisional stakeholders, ensuring alignment between departments.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools to assess project performance and resource efficiency

Our Organisation

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
