LEAD MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

This role is based in Vietnam and reports to Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering. As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer on the Global Supply Chain (GSC) Footwear (FW) Manufacturing & Engineering team, you are working closely with teams across the enterprise - Product Creation, Innovation, Chemical Engineering, Costing, Manufacturing Systems Engineering and our Manufacturing Partners - you will be responsible for product developing, process and pattern optimizing, and sustaining the manufacturing systems,… to deliver on our commitment to the athlete*. 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving FW Innovation, Product Manufacturing, and Product Excellence. You’ll collaborate with a diverse team of subject matter experts across various disciplines to successfully deliver epic FW Products, great quality and strategic initiatives.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience); a master’s in Tooling Engineering or Pattern Engineer or similar is a big plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the footwear industry related to manufacturing, engineering, or development. Experience in the footwear industry is preferred.

  • Proven team player and people leader with ability to coach, develop and inspire.

  • A strategic thinker who thrives in complex environments and knows how to build strong relationships across internal and external partners.

  • Excellent communication in English (written and verbal), with solid project and time management skills.

  • Comfortable with occasional travel (up to 10%) and flexible enough to work across global time zones.

  • Proven success in managing supplier/vendor relationships and representing brand interests in large organizations

  • Skilled in identifying and managing risks and issues

  • Proficient in standard MS Office programs, business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You'll help advance Nike’s mission to create world-class footwear by leading manufacturing and product excellence, elevating Footwear quality and proliferate modernization manufacturing. Your work will align with global engineering strategies and deliver meaningful impact locally.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Accountable for ensuring factory progress against Nike strategic goals and adherence to Nike’s manufacturing and quality standards.

  • Monitor and track operations at manufacturing sites to ensure alignment with Nike strategies.

  • Provide footwear expertise to scale new capabilities and innovations at the factory level.

  • Drive manufacturability validation of Nike Explore Team (NXT) technology and confirm manufacturing readiness.

  • Work with Manufacturing & Engineering leadership and factory teams to support correct application of standardized best practices at factory workshop floor.

  • Develop future-ready skills and competencies on the Nike Footwear Manufacturing Engineer and Partner Manufacturing teams.

  • Partner with Footwear Manufacturing Systems Engineering and manufacturing factory teams to evaluate effectiveness of global strategic initiatives.

Manufacturing Excellence:

  • Ensure Nike standards are met throughout development, commercialization and provide inputs to resolve issues.

  • Collaborate with Product Creation, Manufacturing Partners and Manufacturing Systems. Engineering teams to facilitate the transition and scale of advanced manufacturing capabilities

  • Assess the overall effectiveness of processes and process changes.

  • Support implementation and proliferation of digital systems and tools to improve manufacturing effectiveness and performance.

  • Ensure standardized and consistent metrics at factory sites, review data, identify opportunities and validate partner plans and solutions to deliver improvements.
