Full Description

Role Purpose

The health and safety manager supports the safety and well-being of employees and statutory compliance through risk management and implementation of best practice for policies, procedures and regulations. Subject matter expert in health and safety.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Develop systems and programmes embedding safety within operational processes.
  • Implement behaviour and condition-based auditing
  • Profile business risks and implement processes to manage them
  • Enhance recruitment and training materials.
  • Development leadership awareness for safety and management responsibilities
  • Manage and audit service providers supporting remote locations
  • Reporting to business leaders in internal and statutory compliance
  • Critical incident advisor

Knowledge/ Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive safety leadership
  • IOSH qualification (Essential)
  • Multi-site experience
  • Experienced in leading safety within a logistics, warehousing or D2C environments
  • Current in statutory requirements and best practice covering environmental factors, manual handling, MHE, loading /unloading, contractor management, DSE and incident investigation within a modern D2C / Warehouse environment
  • Experience in retail and office settings.
  • Accurate data collection, analysis and reporting.

  • Operational teams in Manchester
  • Facilities, L&D and functional leaders across operations, head office and retail locations
  • External safety consultants
  • Legal and executive leadership
  • Leaders and project managers engaged in functional plans and initiatives.
