Head of Commercial Data & Insights
Location:Old Trafford/London Office

The Purpose
Manchester United is seeking a talented individual to join our Commercial Division within the Commercial Operations department. The Head of Data & Insights will report directly to the Commercial Operations Director and lead a multi-disciplinary team of twelve .Data experts, covering Engineering, Scientists, Insights, Analysts and Pricing.


The Role: 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the club to identify commercial challenges and growth opportunities.
  • Conduct research, analyse data, and deliver insights that drive revenue across both D2C and B2B channels.
  • Work across a variety of touchpoints including eCommerce, Membership, MUTV, ticketing, hospitality, digital platforms (web & app), content, and marketing.
  • Partner closely with the Sales & Partnerships team to support prospecting, rights valuation, activation, and performance measurement.
  • Evolve data and technology capabilities using advanced techniques, including attribution modelling.
  • Lead business, category, and sports marketing research to uncover compelling insights.
  • Utilise a wide range of data sources (e.g. surveys, CRM, social media, content) to deliver fan and consumer insights.
  • Leverage segmentation, consumer journeys, brand insights, data science, and trend analysis to inform strategy.


The Person:

  • Proven leader of cross-functional data and insights teams
  • Strong project and stakeholder management across commercial functions
  • Strategic thinker with ability to extract and communicate actionable insights
  • Skilled in data storytelling, visualisation (Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint), and presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Experienced with analytics tools (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics), predictive modelling, segmentation, and consumer research
  • Deep understanding of fan data, digital platforms, and commercial models in sport and entertainment
  • Background in insights roles within sports, media, or consumer-facing industries
  • Demonstrated ability to drive commercial outcomes through data
  • Partner-facing experience with a focus on sponsorship and partnership measurement
  • Successful track record in complex, matrixed organisations
  • Empathetic people manager and strong communicator
  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and detail-oriented
  • Resilient self-starter with a hands-on, adaptable approach
  • Collaborative, curious, and passionate about sport and football
