Freelance Device QA Tester

The Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated freelancer to support our Tokyo team as a Device QA Tester. In this hands-on role, you will help maintain the day-to-day operations of our newly established device performance lab.

Your primary mission will be to execute routine tests and monitor the DAZN customer experience across key Japanese market devices. You will act as an essential early warning system for performance issues ahead of and during the FIFA World Cup.

While prior professional QA experience is a plus, it is not strictly required. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, highly organized, passionate about sports or media, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, live broadcasting environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lab Support: Assisting with the day-to-day operations and basic upkeep of the Tokyo device performance lab and its equipment.
• Routine Testing: Executing daily, step-by-step test plans across a variety of Japanese market devices (Smart TVs, Set-Top Boxes, mobile devices, and tablets).
• User Journey Simulation: Replicating real customer actions, including app launch, login, live stream viewing, VOD playback, and ad sequencing.
• Issue Reporting: Identifying, logging, and tracking basic performance drops, playback issues, and visual defects.
• Escalation: Promptly flagging any test failures or bugs to the engineering team using centralized tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
• Daily Updates: Compiling and sharing simple daily performance health summaries with the team.
• Event Monitoring: Providing heightened monitoring support during the FIFA World Cup, including pre-match checks and live monitoring during high-profile matches.

What You'll Bring:

• Tech-Savvy Nature: Basic familiarity with consumer electronics (Smart TVs, mobile devices) and a comfort level with learning new software tools. (Prior background in QA or software testing is a bonus, but not required).
• Attention to Detail: A highly structured and meticulous approach to following test scripts, reporting, and documentation.
• Reliability: Excellent time management and the ability to remain focused under pressure, especially during high-traffic live sporting events.
• Practical Communication Skills: Working proficiency in both English and Japanese. You should be comfortable navigating Japanese device menus and writing basic bug reports or daily updates in English.
