The Role

CAA is seeking an Executive, Manager of Financial Reporting to be a key member of CAA’s Financial Reporting Team. This role will report to the Director of Financial Reporting. This position is based in our Century City office and is a hybrid position (3 days in-office).  The Manager of Financial Reporting will be responsible for managing the preparation of our monthly and quarterly management reporting packages, including the consolidation and elimination entry monthly process.  This individual will also assist with the preparation of the quarterly bank reporting and annual audited financial statements, both in accordance with US GAAP as well as  bi-annual reporting in accordance with IFRS.  Additionally, this individual will be responsible for helping to manage the investment and lease accounting processes which will include preparing, posting and reviewing  journal entries and lease schedules in CoStar as well as technical accounting analyses/write-ups for new investments or leases/lease amendments.  Further, the Manager of Financial Reporting will assist with ad hoc technical accounting analyses including, but not limited to, business combinations, asset acquisitions, intercompany transactions, goodwill impairment, and other annual valuations as needed.  The individual will be part of a growing team and be responsible for assisting the organization with implementing new/improved processes to promote process standardization, efficiencies and overall department performance improvement.  It is critical that the individual in this role can effectively execute in a dynamic and hybrid working environment. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly consolidation process including, but not limited to, calculating, reviewing and resolving out of balance elimination entries for posting and ensuring accuracy of monthly equity activity balances. 
  • Lead the monthly management reporting process, including, but not limited to, preparation and review of revenue flash reports, management P&L and all relevant supporting files.
  • Regularly collaborate with general ledger accounting teams and financial reporting groups to identify and resolve discrepancies specifically within the management EBITDA calculations and effectively communicate close timeline deadlines and/or potential delays.
  • Assist in management of the investment accounting process including monthly preparation and posting of investment journal entries, preparation of monthly investment management package support files and preparation quarterly investment reconciliation/roll-forward analyses to support both GAAP & IFRS reporting.
  • Assist in the management of CAA’s global lease accounting process including: performing ongoing lease evaluations and supporting technical accounting analyses for the global lease portfolio to ensure compliance with group policy and relevant accounting standards (ASC 842/IFRS 16); utilizing the CoStar accounting module to prepare accounting schedules for new and modified leases; supporting the review and reconciliation of global lease accounting on a quarterly basis; and assisting in the communication and distribution of accounting schedules /journal entries to the various global controllership teams
  • Assists with the preparation of quarterly bank reporting package in Workiva. 
  • Analyze specific fluctuations in monthly operating results and assist in the preparation of quarterly consolidated fluctuation analyses and EBITDA bridge explanations. 
  • Participate in implementation of accounting and/or reporting related systems as well as ad hoc changes that need to be made to the management reporting package. 
  • Assist with coordination and management of annual financial statement external audit process, with a focus on validating completeness of the bank listing in coordination with the Treasury department and GL teams. 
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnote disclosures in accordance with US GAAP in Workiva. 
  • Assist in the preparation of bi-annual IFRS financial statements and disclosure schedules.
  • Assist in or lead other ad hoc projects that may come up related to efficiency improvements or unique technical accounting analyses/valuations.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in Accounting , or a related field preferred 
  • 7+ years accounting/finance experience. 
  • CPA is preferred. 
  • Previous experience utilizing financial management software packages:  MS Dynamics 365 (AX), SAP, Power BI and Workiva preferred, but not required. 
  • Must have experience with international consolidations and technical accounting research. 
  • Experience in dealing with managing multiple reporting requirements (i.e., management vs. US GAAP vs. IFRS). 
  • Strong analytical, organization and documentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, complex projects and meet deadlines. 
  • Effective cross functional department and communication skills to manage processes and projects that involve collaborating with departments outside of accounting and teams across a global organization.
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills is a plus. 
     

Location

This is a hybrid role based out of our Los Angeles office.
 

Compensation

The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $130,000 to $155,000. This position also is eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
