Full Description

Our team of hundreds of skilled experts keep Formula 1 moving. Based in Biggin Hill, you could play a vital part as a Distribution Engineer providing crucial support during race weekends, responsible for establishing and routing all of the video and audio feeds required to produce and distribute Outside of race weekends, we are constantly looking to implement upgrades across our technology stack, to improve operational and technical performance and to also meet the growing distribution requirements across a number of disciplines.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the necessary switching of services during normal or emergency conditions to ensure that services remain on the air.
  • Liaise with third party fibre, uplink and connectivity providers during fault investigations.
  • Routinely check the health of contribution and distribution equipment.
  • Proactively identify and address potential risks and vulnerabilities in our distribution infrastructure.
  • Develop an understanding or the wider Formula 1 technical operation and how the various departments work together throughout an event weekend.
  • Create and update documentation and procedures
  • Implement, or assist with implementation of, changes to distribution infrastructure

About You:

  • Experience in a broadcast, media, or telecommunications environment, ideally within a Live Sports context.
  • In-depth knowledge of television distribution systems, platforms, and standards.
  • Working knowledge of broadcast video baseband signals including HD & 3G-SDI.
  • Basic understanding of AES, MADI, Dolby E and AES67 audio signals.
  • Good general knowledge of TCP/IP Network concepts including multicast traffic.
  • Knowledge of and experience with SMPTE 2110.
  • Working knowledge of h.264/h.265/HEVC encoding configuration.
  • Understanding of MPEG-2 Transports Streams and TR 101 290 analysis.
  • Working experience with Control and Monitoring Systems such as Cerebrum, TAG or Dataminer.
  • Able to operate associated test and analyser equipment for transport streams and baseband signals.
  • Able to communicate technical matters to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-pressure environment

Please note: This role will involve working unsociable hours/weekend work when providing support during race events
