The Red Bull Athlete Performance Center is an athlete accelerator where we empower athletes to achieve greatness.

We use advanced technology, analytics and insights from hundreds of different sports to recognize an athlete's individual potential.

 

This position sits on the Senior Leadership Team of the APC under the General Manager and alongside the Director of Athlete Health and the Director of Business Operations.

 

As Performance Director in Los Angeles, you will support this mission at the APC LA and lead its performance department, fostering a collaborative environment where athletes, coaches, and colleagues thrive.

You will prioritize team development, demonstrating empathy and genuine care for your team and the overall APC, empowering them to succeed and putting their growth first.

 

You will utilize the latest sport science research and human performance strategies and work closely with the APC global performance team to develop and implement innovative training programs that drive performance impact.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Provide visionary leadership to an interdisciplinary team of experts in numerous fields of sports science, such as strength and conditioning, performance assessments and testing, biomechanics, performance nutrition, mental performance, and recovery.

Contribute to the overall success of the APC LA by positively influencing the organizational culture, together with the General Manager and the other directors of the APC LA.

Partner with the Global Performance Director and contribute to developments relevant to both APCs.

Oversee the professional development of staff within the department, providing opportunities for continuous learning and growth.

Act as a key liaison between the APC and external partners, such as equipment vendors, researchers, and sport science experts, as well as institutions, in collaboration with the Global Performance Director to ensure global alignment.

Maintain alignment with the APC in Thalgau in areas of philosophy and delivery protocols.

INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORTATION

Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Work closely with other departments and international teams within Red Bull to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to athlete development. Coordinate with coaches, medical staff, and other stakeholders to comprehensively support athletes.

Lead interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance overall team performance, services was well as athlete potential and well-being.

ATHLETE PERFORMANCE

Direct and manage performance assessments, including biomechanical, metabolic, pulmonary, and cardiovascular methods, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis by the team.

Lead and oversee the development and implementation of individualized training programs, ensuring alignment with athletes' needs and collaboration with both the performance team and the athletes' health team.

Strategize and supervise monitoring of athletes' performance and potential, using data insights to guide training adjustments and support both short and long-term athlete development.

INNOVATION, STRATEGIC PLANNING AND EXPANDING HORIZONS

Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance athlete performance, incorporating cutting-edge methodologies and best practices.

Drive innovation and research in human performance, optimizing test methods, equipment, and work with the global team to maintain a database of standard values across different sports.

Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in sports performance and apply this knowledge to optimize athlete outcomes.

Foster collaborations with experts from academic institutions, industry partners, and organizations to advance sports performance knowledge and practices.

Participate in growing the influence of the APC LA in the world of elite sport by nurturing external relationship with key stakeholders (teams, athletes, etc.) and demonstrating the expertise of the APC.

Together with the whole team, drive the growth and ongoing development of the APC LA by exploring and establishing new strategic directions, enhancing the team's capabilities and expertise, and effectively communicating these advancements both within Red Bull and to external stakeholders.

Contribute the development of APC's growth strategy by collaborating in the creation of both standardized and customized offerings for external athletes, while also supporting the development of APC's communication and collaboration strategies.

Promote the APC and attract elite athletes, leveraging on relationships and network in the industry.

EXPERIENCE Your areas of knowledge and expertise

  • Master's degree or PhD in Sport/ Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or another field relevant to sports performance and leadership.
  • 10+ years of multisport experience, working with elite athletes, coaches and technical staff from both team and individual sports in high-performance environments.
  • Extensive international experience in a leadership role in sports performance.
  • Proven track record of empathetic leadership and team management.
  • Deep technical expertise in one or more of the following areas of sport science: strength, conditioning and physical performance, biomechanics, nutrition, mental performance, recovery.
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management competencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Additional language skills besides English are a plus and would be beneficial.
