THE POSITION

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Science to join our team and lead our efforts in driving data-informed decision making. As the Director of Data Science, you will be responsible for overseeing our AI/ML initiatives, building scalable solutions, and implementing cutting-edge statistical methods. You will collaborate closely with business leaders on delivering actionable insights that lead to impactful business outcomes. THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of data scientists to drive initiatives that enhance our in-app personalization capabilities.
  • Promote advanced forecasting models to drive data-driven decision-making and business strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, strategy, and finance, to understand business needs and develop ML/AI solutions to address them.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data science, staying current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to understand their data and modeling needs and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to communicate insights and recommendations to various levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness and impact of data science initiatives and adjust strategies and tactics accordingly.


THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or related fields is needed; PhD preferred
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience working as a data scientist
  • 5+ years of direct experience managing Data Science teams
  • Proven experience with building and deploying recommendation systems. Experience with Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Causal Inference, Statistical analyses
  • Strong quantitative programming (Python/R) and data manipulation skills (SQL/Spark)
  • Experience with building and deploying ML pipelines: data extraction, feature development, model training, regression testing, testing and deployment
  • Proven track record of leading and scaling data science teams in large, fast-paced technology driven environment – direct to consumer experience preferred
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing large teams and complex projects
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically, with a strong sense of ownership and drive

The applicable salary range for this position is $211,000 - $264,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
