Full Description
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Build up DC capability, capacity and flexibility to provide superior service to the market.
Operate a highly effective and efficient Distribution Centre with a well trained, motivaded workforce to meet or exceed customers' expectations, satisfy business requirements and meet financial targets, whilst ensuring cost control within agreed budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the warehouse team covering Inbound, Picking and Packing, VAS application, Outbound, Returns and Maintenance activities.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Operations Director and other key function managers such as Customer Service, Inbound Management, Order Fullfilment, understanding forecasted volumes, priorities and organising & motivating all DC staff to achieve sales targets and on time delivery of all customer orders.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to remedy customer needs while improving compliance, minimizing operating cost, and effecting greater customer satisfaction. High degree of seniority is expected.
- Responsible to define and to secure DC Budget control and compliance. Approximate budget value of ~€15M; One of the highest percentage of operating overheads in the markets.
- Effectively manage shift patterns and number of staff employed through increasing / reducing temporary staff employed in a timely manner so as to achieve both customer service levels and productivity targets.
- Ensure inventory integrity is maintained through the execution by team of effective cycle counting, written departmental procedures, and the strict adherence of established procedures utilizing up-to-date systems.
- Lead all kinds of DC projects – new facilities, facility expansion, new systems implementation. Starting with the Business Case creation and in close communication with local regional and global teams.
- Develops, coordinates, and maintains a system for identification, evaluation of team and employee productivity rates utilizing up-to-date systems tools and reports.
- Communicate effectively with commercial teams and key customers to develop and/or enhance supply chain solutions.
- Work jointly with external entities such as unions, landlords, insurance, transportation and security companies. Accountable to follow up every single theft or loss claim.
- Review routine maintenance plans for all Material Handling Equipment within the DC and ensure this is complied with at all times. Ensure review process for performance of all equipment and where below expectation, work closely with relevant 3rd parties to make the necessary modifications.
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff in the DC to achive high performance. Oversee a good training process at induction and on going so as to achieve higher engagement and low attrition indexes.
- Ensure the site has good controls in place to provide a healthy and safe place of work for all staff. This to include a number of key DC staff to have responsibility in this area, to work closely with the sites Health and Safety Manager and that all staff is suitably trained on all health and safety matters.
Key Relationships:
- Key internal contacts covering managers from other SCM departments -Order Fullfilment, Inbound Management-, IT, Management of Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Human Resources, among others.
- Relevant management at key customers
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Possess a strong set of skills acquired through advanced training, study and experience.
- Broad & deep knowledge in distribution center or in 3PL
- Softskills: leadership, stakeholder management, priority setting, drive to results, interpersonal skills.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above is required
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
- Minimum 10-years experience in warehouse management, including 3+ years in managing an automated/semi-automated, large-scale distribution facility, with in-depth knowledge of warehouse operations and broad experience in people management.
- Minimum 3 years in managing a large work force of both office staff and blue-color workers
- Solid experience in selecting and managing 3PLs.
