The Greater China Brand Creative Retail Design team are the stewards of retail innovation in one of Nike’s largest geographies. We combine strategy with creativity, executing immersive physical experiences that connect athletes to the future of sport. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

Nike seeks a visionary Design Director for our Retail Store Design team in Greater China. A strategic and collaborative leader, you will guide senior design leads and external partners, consistently seeking new possibilities for innovative, athlete-focused retail environments. You create design solutions that authentically represent Nike’s brand standards and elevate the consumer experience.

You bring proven experience scaling retail fleets, shaping distinctive brand spaces, and leading cross-functional teams. You easily navigate disciplines such as Architecture, Furniture & Fixtures, Materials, and Environmental Brand application. Passionate about sport, consumers, and design, you clearly illustrate your ideas and confidently lead projects to completion.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON

You will amplify, extend, and execute retail environments across Greater China’s store portfolio. As a forwardthinking, detailoriented leader with an architectural mindset, you will set clear direction, develop compelling designs, and establish implementation standards that ensure consistency across execution.

You will lead your team to determine the optimal approach for each project, balancing consumer insights, brand vision, and business objectives. You'll effectively communicate design intent to senior stakeholders, produce impactful presentations, and manage production files when necessary. Travel requirements are approximately 1025%.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

Under guidance from Senior Directors and in partnership with Directorlevel peers, you’ll deliver scalable retail solutions. This role combines team development and mentorship with hands-on design oversight, closely collaborating with internal and external design teams. You will leverage established design processes, toolkits, and best practices to ensure timely, budget-conscious, and creatively-aligned project delivery.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 10+ years of architectural and brand design experience, demonstrating creative sophistication in concepts and visual communication, including at least 3 years managing design teams.

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field, or equivalent experience and education.

  • Comprehensive understanding of design processes and advanced proficiency with industrystandard design tools and software.

  • Retail industry experience strongly preferred; international experience beneficial.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Mandarin and English & proven ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to senior leadership.

  • Proven skill in visual communication, concept development, and ideation.

  • Exceptional relationshipbuilding skills, able to foster collaboration across diverse teams and functions.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute strategically to processes, policies, and decision-making.

  • Proven experience motivating teams, navigating ambiguity, and facilitating effective collaborative decision-making.

  • Passionate about trends in technology, design, art, interactive, and experiential environments.
