The Role
CAA seeks a Design Project Manager for our in-house Creative Services department. In this role, they will report to the Head of Creative Services and partner with the Executive leading the design team with all incoming requests and processes. The Project Manager will be responsible for liaising with assistants, agents, partners, clients and vendors to support a wide range of internal and external business needs.
Responsibilities:
Cross-functional management:
Serve as the strategic liaison between cross-functional stakeholders, clients, and vendors to translate high-level business goals into actionable creative briefs.
Partner closely with internal CAA departments, executives, and teams to align design output with broader strategic goals.
Be the first point of contact for colleagues, clients and vendors who have design needs and questions
Engage directly with Agency clients on design projects, as assigned by the department head and leadership
Creative operations and design project management:
Drive intake prioritization and creative resourcing for high-visibility internal and external projects, ensuring optimal team workflow.
Lead end-to-end project planning and execution across multi-channel creative initiatives, balancing design excellence with business goals and timelines.
Spearhead creative operations improvements including resource forecasting, design tool adoption, and sprint planning.
Set kick off calls and communicate project details to design team in partnership with the Design creative lead.
Provide high-level project oversight for more complex initiatives (e.g., rebranding efforts, signing decks, large-scale event collateral)
Foresee roadblocks and proactively resolve obstacles throughout the project lifecycle to ensure they are delivered on time, smoothly within scope and budget.
Ability to manage multiple, interrelated projects (including business transformation projects) at the same time across multiple US and International time zones either remotely or in hybrid settings.
Stay up to date on latest project management trends and applications to continually improve skills.
Design team culture, team scaling, and design hiring:
Champion a healthy design team with constructive critique culture cadence, creative jam sessions, and design team summits, while providing ample focus design time.
Partnering with design creative lead and HR to spearhead design hiring, DEIB initiatives, and improve onboarding experience.
Help to scale the in-house Creative Services team from a high-level strategic point of view while ensuring balance with creative operation excellence, processes, and daily infrastructures.
Partner with design creative lead to mentor junior project coordinators or designers in best practices for creative operations and design project lifecycles.
Creative design process excellence:
Partnering with creative design lead to identify design flow patterns and establish reusable templates/design systems to increase velocity of delivery, brand consistency, and open up more bandwidth (e.g. Figma Design Systems, Templates, Expanded Brand Guidelines, etc.)
Monitor and report on KPIs such as project delivery timelines, revision cycles, and internal client satisfaction to guide continuous improvement
Maintain design archives and files organization according to best practices and standards
Review and proofread all design deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy before delivery.
Misc. design tasks:
Provide content design and strategy expertise for ads, presentation decks, flyers, and more
Uphold and enhance CAA’s brand standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in design-related field, business, communication, English or other media-related degree or relevant work experience
At least 6+ years of professional experience working in a creative environment such as an agency, design studio, advertising agency, digital agency or in-house creative department
Eye for detail, ability to carefully cross reference notes to deliverables
Background/interest in archiving and research a plus
Copywriting, copyediting, content design/strategy experience a plus
Social media content creation experience a plus
Entertainment and tech industry experience a plus
Experience managing multiple, long term and short term projects
Ability to give and receive feedback
Well-versed in remote work environment, managing multiple time zones
Experience in digital design (e.g. websites, reels, graphics, banners, email ads, etc.) and physical design deliveries (e.g. flyers, prints, posters, etc.).
Working knowledge of project management programs and standards as well as a desire to explore and harness new technologies to enhance workflow
Working knowledge with project management systems and workflows, particularly Asana. Familiarity with Microsoft Planner, Hive, and Trello
Working knowledge of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Notion best practices
Familiarity with Design Systems, Brand Guidelines, and branding principles.
Understanding of workplace relationships, politics and navigating different personalities
Excellent communications skills, including the ability to convey creative concepts
Experience working at major enterprise corporate companies, as well as smaller startup team culture
Positive, hard-working, “can-do” client service attitude
Desire to be a part of an organization that values teamwork and taking care of each other
Location
This role is based out of our Los Angeles office.
Compensation
The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $101,000 - $125,000 in Los Angeles. This position is also eligible for benefits and a discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in the role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
