WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

This role is based on Busan, and reports to the Senior Manager, Chemical Engineering. You will join a team that designs, develops, and transitions new technologies, materials and manufacturing processes to create the world’s best athletic footwear. You will work closely with global cross-functional teams in the Nike organization as well as manufacturing partners and material suppliers.

You will be working with Nike leadership and factory teams to ensure best practices are implemented at our factories, utilizing chemical and process engineering knowledge to apply research towards the design, development, and scale up of new products and processes with the highest quality.

We’re looking for a Chemical Engineer to join the Nike Chemical Engineering team in Korea to help revolutionize the world’s best athletic footwear for the world’s best athletes.

A successful candidate will build knowledge of the company, product, materials, processes and customers, solve a range of product creation and engineering problems and analyze possible solutions using standard procedures while receiving a moderate level of guidance and direction.

  • Bachelor, master and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or other chemical related disciplines.
  • Or in lieu of 2+ years direct relevant work experience.
  • Footwear experience preferred; Experience in other related industries like tires, polyurethane, plastics manufacturing, etc. may also be considered.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English.
  • Strong problem solving, data analysis and communication skills.
  • Natural curiosity and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to be part of complex initiatives and project teams.
  • Passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, Statistica, or Excel and familiar with design of experiments.
  • Ability to travel 10%

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

In this role you will elevate product quality and drive strategic chemical and sustainable projects from concept to manufacturing space.

  • You are going to apply the methodology of design of experiment with solid data analysis capability to draw conclusions and provide corresponding resolution to solve development and manufacturing issues.
  • You will act as functional expert in bottom component technology within the product creation teams during the development phase to identify and alleviate potential manufacturing issues, driving validation of cutting-edge technology to confirm manufacturing readiness.
  • You are comfortable working in ambiguous situations, providing solution path to the problem and leading the elevation of factory partner’s capabilities, including new chemical facility ramp up while ensuring consistent quality.
