Full Description
The New York Red Bulls are one of 30 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters' Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.
In this part-time role, you will assist the Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists at RBNY in the delivery of treatment and rehabilitation of all RBII and Academy players. Additionally, you will assist the Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists in the implementation of injury reduction screening protocols and the delivery of their individual programs.
VENUE COVERAGE
Provide on field medical coverage during RBII and academy training sessions and matches as assigned.
INJURY ASSESSMENT
Assist with the assessment of new injuries on the field of play and in the treatment room.
Initiate communication chain of initial findings to athletic trainers and physical therapists, and when appropriate communicate findings to coaching staff, fitness staff, and team physician.
TREATMENT + REHABILITATION
Formulate initial treatment plan for the acute stages of the injury.
Assist in the creation and execution of the rehabilitation plans during the mid to late stages of rehab for long term injuries.
Assist in the creation and execution of individualized injury risk reduction measures for squad players as assigned.
RETURN TO PLAY
Assist medical team with execution of end stage rehab testing and assist fitness staff with execution of return to play programming when appropriate.
EXPERIENCE Your areas of knowledge and expertise
that matter most for this role:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Athletic Training
- NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
- Strong communications skills
- Experience with evaluation and treatment of lower extremity injury
- Knowledge and interest in injury rehabilitation
- Flexible schedule for both weekday and weekend coverage
