Role Overview
Reporting to the Finance Director - Record to Report, the Associate Director of Global Intercompany & Statutory Reporting is a senior, strategic leadership role within the Global Financial Control – Group Finance team within Flutter. This position oversees the strategic direction and operational excellence of intercompany and local GAAP accounting, annual local financial statements compilation and statutory audit coordination, as well as financial integration for mergers, acquisitions, and deregistrations. As a key member within the GFC leadership team, you will work collaboratively with Group Reporting, Tax, CoSec, FP&A, Treasury and Divisional Finance teams, while maintaining critical relationships with Legal and our external auditors. This role demands a forward-looking strategic mindset with proven ability to drive large-scale initiatives, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and deliver business value through financial insight, project management, and operational leadership. The role is a key partner in many of the strategic tax initiatives in devising accounting solutions for the complex arrangements which the Group enters into in ensuring an overall lower effective tax rate.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Intercompany and Strategic Oversight

  • Responsible for the development of accounting solutions for all strategic initiatives as it relates to Intercompany accounting – both commercially between divisions, tax planning and all other taxation related initiatives.
  • Provide high-level oversight and coordination of all Intercompany transactions across the Group's legal entities, including operating, capital, and financing activities.
  • Design and develop robust, scalable efficient processes and procedures for all aspects of intercompany accounting within the Group's strategic objectives and internal control framework, leveraging technology such as AGIS/Workiva to ensure best-in-class processes.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment with the Group legal team to ensure all intercompany transactions are fully documented and meet regulatory and internal policy standards.
  • Champion the Group's intercompany policy, ensuring divisional intercompany transactions are accurate, compliant, and efficiently processed.
  • Ensure all aspects of Transfer Pricing compliance in partnership with the tax team is accurately reflected in the accounts, overseeing related cross-functional projects where necessary.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and automation.
  • Work closely with Group Reporting to meet month-end financial close requirements and ensure intercompany balances and transactions eliminate across the Group.
  • Proactively assess organizational structures and anticipate future needs to optimize legal entity alignment, providing strategic insight on intercompany matters that support business growth.

Statutory Accounts

  • Lead the statutory financial reporting process across the Group's legal entities as required by local jurisdictions, liaising with various teams across the Group, including local finance teams, Tax, Legal, CoSec etc to ensure timely and compliant reporting.
  • Strategically manage the annual statutory audit process, working closely with external auditors to plan and execute the audit cycle effectively (including the quarterly reporting as required by the SEC).
  • Oversee the implementation of complex adjustments related to legal entity reporting and ensure these adjustments are recorded in the Group's financial systems (e.g., Oracle eBiz).
  • Partner with divisional finance teams globally to promote process consistency, shared best practices, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with Tax on complex tax audits, accounting matters, and external investigations, providing strategic guidance on risk mitigation and tax planning.
  • Support legal entity restructuring efforts, including the liquidation and deregistration of dormant entities, in collaboration with Tax and Legal.

Strategic leadership & Team management

  • As a key member of the GFC Record to Report leadership team, act as a role model by exhibiting exemplary leadership and vision consistently amongst the wider Finance team and across the Organisation.
  • Lead and develop team members proactively and continuously.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through proactive team development, equipping team members with technical expertise in IFRS, local GAAP, and ESG standards, and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
  • Sponsor and lead transformational projects focused on process innovation, automation, and continuous improvement to elevate the function's contribution to the Group's long-term strategic objectives.
  • Establish influential relationships with senior stakeholders across divisions, Legal, Treasury, Tax, and other critical teams, aligning on priorities and driving value-based decision-making.
  • Contribute as a strategic partner to senior management, taking on high-impact projects and initiatives to strengthen the function's leadership capabilities and positioning within the Group.

Experience required:

  • Qualified Accountant with 10+ years of progressive experience, preferably gained in a multi-national / plc environment or a Big-4 accounting firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, bringing assertive, credible leadership to cross-functional partnerships.
  • Expertise in establishing and enhancing internal control frameworks (SOX or equivalent) and in the implementation of process and reporting improvements.
  • Strong financial accounting experience with a solid understanding of current/relevant technical accounting issues.
  • Strong Financial Systems experience – Oracle Financials would be an advantage.
  • Excellent MS Office skills – particularly Excel.

  • Strong process, technical and analytical skills, combined with commercial acumen and the ability to influence senior leaders and drive decision-making.
  • High energy and drive, and flexible enough to work in an entrepreneurial, dynamic, and changing environment with the resilience to challenge/be challenged.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills: the ability to accurately and pithily identify key issues and communicate them broadly.
