This is a city passionate about football and sports, with two Premier League football clubs less than 30 minutes from our campus.

MBA students will immerse themselves within the world of football during their studies, including visits to local football clubs, attending guest speaker sessions and networking  with industry leaders from clubs including Everton FC, Liverpool FC, Brighton & Hove Albion as well as the English Premier League.

Programme duration: 

• Campus based programme - 12 months (full-time)
• Online programme - 24 months (part-time)

• September 2025 for the campus-based and online programme

Entry requirements:

You should have a minimum of 3 years  work experience in a professional or managerial capacity.

We also consider applicants who may not hold a degree or the required degree classification but have extensive professional experience (more than 5 years) and/or a postgraduate qualification are encouraged to apply.

Programme Overview 

Founded over 25 years ago, Football Industries MBA (FIMBA) is the unique MBA dedicated to the global football industry. The programme features in the top 30 SportBusiness Global and top 5 European Postgraduate course rankings for 2025.

FIMBA supports MBA candidates’ holistic development into professionally trained football and sports executives, combining core MBA curriculum including modules in leadership, managing financial resources and marketing alongside specialist football modules. 

The course has been specially designed by our Centre for Sports Business, a global centre of excellence for sports and football business taught postgraduate programmes, research and executive education. 

Students will not only learn from our world-class academic staff who bring expertise from sports analytics, economics, governance and finance but also gain invaluable insights directly from top industry leaders such as Premier and European League football club CEOs and top executives from governing bodies. 

Additionally, and a highlight for our MBA candidates is the option to attend our European study trips that have previously included Madrid, Milan and Barcelona as well as FIFA and UEFA in Switzerland.  

Specialist Football Modules

With football-specific modules in management, finance, and law, you will develop a deeper understanding of global football and sports from a business perspective.

For example, through the Becoming a Football Executive module, students can have the opportunity to apply theory to practice to solve practical management problems within the sport business context.  Using a management simulation at a local football club, students will improve their self-awareness, strategic networking, and crisis management skills – all essential attributes within the football and sports world. 

Online FIMBA students are also invited to attend this week-long module in person (or online) alongside their on-campus peers, which is an excellent opportunity to explore Liverpool, a hotbed for football clubs and sports organisations in the North-West of England.
