It is a privilege and an honour to work for the IPC, in a creative role that combines my passion and my knowledge as a Paralympian of the Paralympic Movement. My desire is for the Paralympics to expand so that more people are aware of the groundbreaking work the IPC does around the world - and not just during Games time.

Since 1989, the IPC has been creating change through sport with the Paralympic Games and Paralympians at the core. The Paralympic Movement must use its influential global position and the growing profile of Para athletes to challenge the stigma attached to disability, empower social transformation and make for a more inclusive society for all.

The International Paralympic Committee's vision is to make for an inclusive world through Para sport. Our mission is to lead the Paralympic Movement, oversee the delivery of the Paralympic Games and support members to enable Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence.

Ultimately, we believe that Para sport can generate change in three key areas: attitudes, mobility and opportunity. We want to change attitudes about persons with disabilities, increase mobility and accessibility and ensure that persons with disabilities have equal opportunity to education, sport, healthcare and employment. The IPC firmly believes that Change Starts with Sport, and that the work of the Paralympic Movement is a catalyst for driving social inclusion and advancing the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.Since 1989, the IPC has been creating change through sport with the Paralympic Games and Paralympians at the core. Founded on 22 September 1989 as an international non-profit organisation, the IPC is an athlete-centred organisation composed of an elected Governing Board, a management team and various Standing Committees and Councils. Since 1999 we have been headquartered in Bonn, Germany.

The IPC’s primary responsibilities are to support our 200 plus members develop Para sport and advocate social inclusion, ensure the successful delivery and organisation of the Paralympic Games and act as the international federation for 6 Para sports.

Our membership draws together National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), International Federations (IFs), Regional Organisations and International Organisations of Sports for the Disabled (IOSDs). The commitment and obligations of these members forms part of the IPC Handbook, the Paralympic Movement’s ultimate reference document and framework.
